Multiple Teams · Volleyball Welcomes Foreign Exchange Student

On Wednesday, July 30th, the Lady Raider volleyball team surprised their new teammate with a decorated locker, pizza party, and gifts galore.  Silje Thoresen, a junior from Norway, will be spending one year as a Blue Raider before heading back home.  Silje has experienced many of America’s ” guilty pleasures” in just her first week from a corn dog in New York, to thumbprint cookies and soda in the Lady Raider locker room.  When asked about her first week in the U.S., Silje stated, “It’s nothing like I expected, and better than I could’ve ever dreamt about!”

Silje’s first official volleyball practice with the Lady Raiders was on Thursday, less than 24 hours after her arrival to the Chattanooga airport.  Volleyball in the states has some similarities to the sport internationally, but what she learned in one day on a CHS volleyball court was more than she could have ever imagined.  “It has been challenging, but the girls are giving, fun, and it has been an awesome way to start the year!”
